Dr. Loujeania (Lou) Maynus possesses a strong background in education resulting from her extensive studies and work experience in the field. Dr. Maynus was selected to be the Superintendent at OSD and began her time on campus in July 2018. She was also named the Interim Superintendent at OSSB and later made the OSSB Superintendent, leading both schools since Fall 2019. 

Prior to coming to OSD and OSSB, Dr. Maynus was the Assistant State Superintendent, Division of Teaching and Learning at the West Virginia Department of Education. She also worked in several positions at Kanawha County Schools and Marshall University, as well as the West Virginia Department of Education as Coordinator and then Lead Coordinator in the Office of Instruction and as a Coordinator in the Office of School Improvement. From 1984-1998 she worked as a Teacher of the Deaf and the Case Manager for Special Education at Fayette County Schools. 

Dr. Maynus earned a Doctorate in Education in Curriculum and Instruction and an Education Specialist in Leadership Studies both from Marshall University. She also earned a Master of Arts in Leadership Studies from Marshall University, a Master of Science in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Special Education from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) and a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from Concord College. Among her honors and awards are the RESA IV Carla Sweet Special Educator of the Year in 1998 and the West Virginia Presidential Award for Math and Science in 2005.
